HEART SAFE – Community CPR & AED

HEART SAFE is a two-hour, hands-on community CPR and AED course for people who want practical experience recognizing sudden cardiac arrest, starting CPR, calling for help, and using an AED.

It is designed for families, schools, workplaces, churches, coaches, community groups, caregivers, and others with little or no medical training.

What you will practice

• Recognizing cardiac arrest
• Activating EMS and directing others to help
• CPR for adults, children, and infants
• Rescue-breath options where appropriate
• AED operation and pad placement
• Following AED prompts and basic safety considerations
• Combining CPR and AED use during a simulated response

How the course is taught

Students practice with CPR manikins and AED trainers in a supportive setting focused on repetition, questions, and clear technique.

Choosing the right CPR course

HEART SAFE is a Guardian community course. If your employer, school, licensing body, or professional role requires a specific credential such as an American Heart Association course completion card, check that requirement before registering. Guardian also offers AHA Heartsaver and healthcare-provider courses.

The purpose of HEART SAFE is simple: give ordinary people a clear, hands-on introduction to the first actions that matter in a cardiac emergency.
